The stellar winds of early-type stars in the Small Magellanic Cloud
Description
Results are presented from a study of the stellar winds of early-type stars in the Small Magellanic Cloud, based on low resolution IUE spectra. Well developed P Cygni doublets observed in 25 main-sequence, giant, and supergiant stars, are fitted using model profiles, allowing for the IUE low-resolution instrumental profile. Some characteristics of mass-loss in these stars are derived, including terminal velocities, stellar wind densities, and the products of mass-loss rate and ionization fraction. These results are compared with the observed stellar wind properties of galactic O stars of similar spectral types and luminosities. (author)
