Substance ionization by a superheavy monopole

Description
Negative results in experiments searching for magnetic monopoles in natural formation and cosmic rays might be explained by a small ionization power of the monopole. If the monopole mass is equal to 1016 GeV, as we may infer from the Grand Unification Theory, ionization losses at nonrelativistic energies of a monopole will be vanishing because of kinematics of particle interaction with very different masses. A low velocity of the superheavy monopole with nonrelativistic kinetic energy restricts the detector usage, working on the ionization principle and registration of Cerenkov radiation. The lower limit of the monopole energy, which can be recorded by the ionization detector, is estimated to be 1010 GeV. (orig.)
