Description

Whereas one the stakes of the integration of intermittent renewable energies is the development of flexibilities at lower cost and with lower CO2 emissions, this study focussed on the case of electric power consumption by the residential sector, and examined how to commit inhabitants in the power consumption flexibility in order to better integrate intermittent renewable energies. The authors first discuss the impact of the deployment of wind and photovoltaic productions and outline flexibility needs. They also present flexibility potentials for today's and tomorrow's electric power consumption in the housing sector. They finally state a set of guidelines and recommendations related to a strong CO2 price signal, to an incentive thermal regulation, to a 'smart grid ready' label, to simple and incentive signals to favour flexibility, to pedagogical actions and the promotion of consumer commitment
