Corrosion products in the WWER-440 primary coolant circuit

Creators

Description

The main fraction of radiation burden is due to activated corrosion products. Differences depending on the site also for nuclear power plants of the same type require detailed investigations by each operator himself. The water-chemical regime of the primary coolant circuit of a WWER-440 nuclear power plant principally offers the possibility of minimizing activity build-up. The operating instructions have to be precised in some details as to conform with the achieved level of knowledge. Conclusions related to the transport and deposition behaviour are possible from the studies performed on the inventory of corrosion products and their activated species in the primary water and on the surfaces.
