Magnetic and transport properties of Y(Nisub(1-x)Cosub(x))3
Creators

Description
The aim of the investigation was to discuss the breakdown of the magnetic order by Co substitution in YNi3 and its influence on the transport properties, over the concentration range Y(Nisub(1-x)Cosub(x))3, 0.2 < x < 0.35. At first there is an increase of both the magnetization and the Curie temperature, then a breakdown of magnetic order occurs which is followed by an onset of magnetism for x > 0.35. The field dependence of the magnetization at 4.2 K for various Co concentrations is presented in Arrott plots. The temperature dependence of the thermopower and electrical resistivity are given and discussed. The magnetic breakdown is discussed in relation to the density of states at the Fermi level. (U.K.)
