On plasticity anomaly of nickel aluminides

Interrelation of NiAl and Ni3Al plasticity with other mechanical properties of these compounds is investigated. It is shown that plasticity of NiAl compound anomalously increases with decrease of strain hardening at temperatures higher than 500 deg C, that is explained by intensification of recovery processes. Ni3Al compound plasticity is nonmonotonously changed with the temperature attaining minimum in the range from 700 to 900 deg C and is not connected uniquely with the alloy strain hardening that is due to concurrent effect of thermal activated processes of hardening and softening. By alloying it is possible to influence the temperature dependence of flow stress and, consequently, the alloy embrittlement under higher temperatures
