Description
The residual neutron-proton (n-p) interactions (δ) play a very important role in nuclear structure calculations and also useful in the estimation of unmeasured nuclear ground state masses. Additionally, it is also considered an important characteristic that affects the evolution of single-particle structure and the development of nuclear collectivity and nuclear deformation. In this work, we have presented a finite difference mass equation to calculate the empirical n-p interaction strength in even-even nuclei in mass region 50<A<244. We also introduce a new functional form for average n-p interaction (-δ¯) as a function of mass number. In present work, we obtained finite difference mass equation for empirical residual n-p interactions (δ) and calculated the same for 194 even-even nuclei lying in the mass region 50<A<244
