Muon spin rotation studies of magnetic order and strong magnetic correlations in magnetic and superconducting systems based on the high Tc copper oxide structures

Description
In this paper the authors review results of a series of muon spin rotation (μSR) studies extending down to milli Kelvin temperatures in order to explore the existence of magnetic correlations below TC in the La2-xSrxCuO4 system. Evidence is presented for the existence of local magnetic fields thought to originate from Cu electronic moments in both superconducting La2-xSrxCuO4 and in superconducting oxygen deficient YBa2Cu3O6.6. μSR results are also presented for oxygen deficient and superconducting GdBa2Cu3O6+x samples. Some discussion of the relevance of these results to recent proposals for pairing mechanisms is presented
