Description

Pumping-out, sealing and hydraulic properties of a gasodynamic jet of alkali metal vapours have been considered. The circuit of experimental facility at which hydrogen pump out rates were measured by a vapoursodium jet in the pressure range from 10-3 to 10-5 torr and weakening by a jet of a hydrogen molecular flow is given. A jet thickness amounted to (2+-5)x1015 atom/cm2. The usage of jet hydraulic properties permitted to realize regenerative return of hydrogen flowing from a source of positive ions back to the source. It is shown that together with the main designation of the vapoursodium jet (ion beam stripping) it can be also used as an effective mean for reducing gas load on a high-vacuum system of powerful injectors of hydrogen hegative ions as well as for improving gas economy of a charge-exchange source of H- ions
