PMT measurements for MAGIC II telescope
Description
MAGIC is a project of 17m diameter air Cherenkov telescopes for VHE ground-based gamma ray astronomy. The project is located in the Canary island of La Palma. Since fall 2004 the first telescope (MAGIC-I) is regularly observing the celestial objects. Currently the MAGIC collaboration is building the second telescope (MAGIC-II). We aim to select the best photomultipliers for the MAGIC-II imaging camera. We performed variety of measurements of different characteristics of PMTs, such as their single photoelectron spectra (SPE), afterpulsing rates, aging and photon detection efficiencies. The results of candidate PMTs from different manufacturers will be presented here. (orig.)
