Associations between ambient air pollutants and blood pressure among children and adolescents: A systemic review and meta-analysis

Highlights: • The first meta-analysis of air pollution and blood pressure in minors • A systematic review identified 15 studies involving nearly 0.5 million participants. • Long-term exposure to PM10 increased the risk of hypertensive prevalence. • Short-term PM10, long-term PM2.5, PM10 and NO2 exposure increased blood pressure. Numerous epidemiological studies have investigated the effects of short-term and long-term exposure to ambient air pollution on hypertension and blood pressure among children and adolescents. However, the results were controversial. To provide researchers reliable evidence, this meta-analysis was performed.
