Description

Properties of rotating neutron stars are calculated according to the Bi-Metric Theory of Gravitation (BM) for a wide range of equations of state and compared with published results of General Relativity (GR). It is found that BM allows for appreciably higher masses, moments of inertia and red-shifts than GR. For realistic equations of state it is found that stable neutron stars can have: (1) masses Msub(n), greater than that of Cyg X-1 (approximately 8 solar masses) (in GR Msub(n) approximately < 3 to 4 solar masses); (2) moments of inertia I approximately > 1047 g cm2 (in GR I approximately < 5 x 1045 g cm2); and (3) maximum surface redshifts Zsub(SM) > 4 (in GR Zsub(SM) =< 2).
