On the problem of time, dose and fractionation (TDF) in the linear-quadratic model
Description
In many problems of modern radiotherapy such as multifractionation, interstitial and intracavitary therapy with implanats the NSD-formula is hardly applicable. Serious difficulties arise, when this formula is used for an estimation of late responses of tissues, because it mainly appreciates acute effects. On the basis of the linear-quadratic survival model S = exp(-αD-βD2) the TDF-problem is investigated with the help of kinetic principles. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Die NSD-Formel ist auf viele Probleme der modernen Radiotherapie - wie z.B. Mehrfachfraktionierung, interstitielle und intrakavitaere Therapie mit Implantaten - kaum anwendbar. Ernsthafte Schwierigkeiten tauchen auf, wenn Spaetfolgen im Gewebe mit dieser Formel bewertet werden sollen, da die letztere hauptsaechlich fuer akute Reaktionen zutrifft. Das Problem der Bestrahlungsdauer, -dosis und Fraktionierung wird anhand des linear-quadratischen Ueberlebensmodells S = exp(-αD-βD2) nach den Regeln der Kinetik untersucht. (orig.)Additional details
