The natural neutron background in localities of various altitudes
Creators
- 1. Komenskeho Univ., Bratislava (Czechoslovakia). Prirodovedecka Fakulta
Description
The natural neutron background was measured in different localities of Czechoslovakia at latitudes 48deg to 50deg N. and altitudes from 115 m to 2632 m. A 3He proportional chamber with a sensitive volume of 10 l was used as the neutron detector. The possibility of calibrating the neutron detector with natural background neutron fluxes is discussed. The effect of structural materials (buildings, shields) on the natural neutron flux is discussed. (author). 4 figs., 8 refs
