Description

The KEK Isotope Separation System (KISS) was constructed to conduct spectroscopic experiments on neutron-rich nuclei in the platinum and actinide regions, with the aim of elucidating the astrophysical sites of the r-process. This paper describes the development of a β-ray detector for decay measurements at KISS, which was recognized with a Young Researcher Encouragement Award, and provides an overview of the results obtained from measurements of the magnetic moments of neutron-rich iridium isotopes using laser spectroscopy, as well as the decay spectroscopy of 187Ta.
