Nuclear fuel reprocessing imperative

Description
Speedy realisation of a German reprocessing plant is absolutely essential. Direct ultimate storage of LWR fuel elements does not offer advantages over a waste management concept with fuel reprocessing. Direct ultimate storage only makes sense with fuel elements reprocessing of which is uneconomical e.g. fuel elements from the Juelich experimental (pebble-bed) reactor and from the THTR-300 as well as special LWR fuel elements. The waste management policy pursued by the Federal Republic of Germany so far and the necessity to build a fuel reprocessing plant was confirmed. (DG)
Abstract (German)
Die zuegige Verwirklichung einer deutschen WAA ist geboten. Aus der direkten Endlagerung abgebrannter BE's aus LWR ergeben sich keine Vorteile gegenueber der Entsorgung mit WA. Die direkte Endlagerung kommt nur fuer BE's in Betracht, deren Wiederaufarbeitung unwirtschaftlich ist. Hierzu gehoeren zunaechst BE's der AVR und THTR-300 sowie Sonderelemente der LWR. Die bisherige Entsorgungspolitik der Bundesrepublik Deutschland und die Notwendigkeit des Baues einer WAA ist bestaetigt. (DG)Additional details
