  • 1. Inst. biologii yuzhnykh morej, Sevastopol' (Ukraine)

Description

First determinations of 210Po concentrations in the bottom sediments from the Ukrainian part of the Black Sea were carried out in 1998-1999. In the 0-1 cm layer, they range from 11.3 to 495.6 Bq centre dot kg-1 dry weight. Maximum concentrations were found in the circumferential regions of the Black-Sea western cyclonic water circulation zone. In the coast bottom sediments collected along the Crimea and northern-western part of the Black Sea, 210Po concentrations vary from 11.3 to 88,9 and, in the Sevastopol Bays, from 17.6 to 42.1 Bq centre dot kg-1 dry weight, They were higher near the Dnieper River Mouth (123.6 Bq centre dot kg-1 dry weight) and Bosporus Strait (108.7 Bq centre dot kg-1 dry weight)
