Europium complexes with polyacrylic acid containing o-phenanthroline groups

Complexes of polyacrylic acid containing o-phenanthroline groups (PACP) with different content of europium (3) have been synthesized for the first time. The macromolecular compounds are characterized by the methods of thermogravimetry. IR spectroscopy, their spectral-luminescent and photochemical properties being studied. Coordination of ligand to Eu3+ is realized via phenanthroline and carboxylic groups. Excitation spectra of Eu3+ polychelates with PACP indicates the presence of intramolecular energy transfer from PACP levels to resonance levels of europium ion. The presence of grafted o-phenanthroline group increases luminescence intensity of Eu3+ macromolecular complex with PACP by a factor of 2-3, as compared with europium polyacrylates
