Magnetic field of Mars: Mars 5 evidence
Creators
- 1. Institute of Terrestrial Magnetism, Ionosphere and Radio Wave Propagation IZMIRAN, USSR Academy of Sciences, Moscow Region, USSR
Description
The measurements obtained by Mars 5 reaffirm the conclusion of an intrinsic Martian magnetic field based on the Mars 2 and 3 data. The bow shock positions are equivalent to those observed on the earlier missions. Furthermore, a magnetotail is observed whose direction is independent of interplanetary sector structure
