Bench-scale experiments for testing the programs for shield calculation

Description

The results of bench-scale experiments comprising the measurement of spatial distributions of activity for a set of activation detectors in water are presented. On the base of the oblained experimental data the ATIKA, VEREYA, NEGA and MOVDIF programs used for nuclear reactor biological shield design are tested. The experiment is performed in the VVR-50 research reactor hole. The scintillation gamma spectrometer with NaI (Tl) crystal and the semiconductor gamma spectrometer with Ge(Li) crystal are used for measuring the detector induced activity. On the base of the analysis of the obtained data it is concluded that the spatial distributions of #betta# radiation dose rate calculated by means of the NEGA and VEREYA programs are close to or coincide with the experimental results over the whole shield thickness
