Description
Calculation results of the radiation impact on the population from a fusion reactor atmospheric release are presented with reference to INTOR as an example. It is shown that the individual equivalent doses due to these releases would not exceed the dose limits both for normal operation with a release rate up to 20 Ci per day and for a 105 Ci accidental release. A method is described for the evaluation of the radiation impact on the population on the basis of the concept of inadmissibility of actual risk. The results of this evaluation are presented. The radiation environment changes due to increased tritium releases up to 100 Ci per day during normal operation and 106 Ci at an accident are considered. (author). 21 refs, 4 figs, 4 tabs
