Astrophysics with neutron-rich nuclei
Description
This paper aims to present how to explain the isotopic abundances of elements Ca-Ti-Cr-Fe observed in the solar system and in some refractory inclusions of meteorites. A special class of refractory inclusions in carbonaceous meteorites exhibits large isotopic overabundances in 48Ca, 50Ti, 54Cr, 58Fe, suggesting that an explosive scenario with large neutron-densities is responsible for their production. In order to interpret this isotopic pattern, the progenitors of these isotopes have to be determined. Nuclear structure far from stability is then of basic importance to define the neutron-capture - beta-decay paths leading to the formation of these isotopes. (orig.)
