Dependence between mechanical and thermal characteristics of materials during heat loading of rigid bodies

Description

Thermodynamic representations are employed to obtain qualitative and quantitative correlations between mechanical and thermophysical characteristics of materials during heat loading. The correlations permit finding the simplest forms for recording criteria of the materials' limiting states under heat exchanges. It is established when there is no structural and phase transformations in the material, the following dependence exists between temperature coefficients of the elasticity modulus nE, linear expansion coefficient nα and Poisson's ratio nμ:nE+2nα-nμ=0. An empirical dependence which connects the atomic mass with the elasticity modulus, linear expansion coefficient and Poisson's ratio is obtained for structural materials
