ICF plasma-ion and soft x-ray measurement comparison between the KMSF thermistor and Livermore thermoelectric plasma calorimeters
Description
A common method of measuring plasma-ion and soft x-ray fluxes produced during laser-matter interaction experiments is to sample these fluxes with instruments described as plasma calorimeters. Several types of instruments, using a variety of detector schemes, have been used to make plasma flux measurements. Two of these presently in common use are the KMSF thermistor type, and the Livermore thermoelectric type calorimeters. Both of these are of differential design and are electrically calibrated, although there are significant differences in physical design and method of calibration. This report discusses plasma measurement comparisons between these two instruments, including a description of individual designs and calibration techniques
