Galactic distribution of interstellar scattering matter
Description
The scattering medium disclosed by the scintillation of galactic and extragalactic radio sources is distributed nonuniformly with radius in the Galaxy. Its space distribution, the amplitude of the electron-density fluctuations, and the large velocity dispersion of the scattering irregularities suggest that the strongly turbulized matter is concentrated in H II regions and supernova remnants
