Description
We introduce the notion of self-duality for membranes in (4+1) dimensions and we discuss their relation with SU(∞) self-dual YM fields. We find that the self-dual spherical membranes is an integrable system isomorphic to the infinite Toda lattice and we determine the corresponding linear system. Simple solutions are found in the spherically symmetric case. (orig.)
