Phonon anomalies in transition metals

Description
The anomalous features in the phonon spectra of niobium have been studied within the pseudopotential framework. For determining the electron-phonon interaction matrix elements the d-state radius dependent effective mass has been taken into consideration. It is inferred that the phonon anomalies in transition metals can be explained by including the effective mass correction in the evaluation of the electronic contribution to the dynamical matrix
