Inertially stabilized thermonuclear z-pinch

Description

It is shown that a linear z-pinch can be inertially stabilized, if a thin long rod is shot through its core at a velocity of a few km/sec. This configuration seems to avoid the problems, both of pure magnetic and inertial fusion confinement concepts, and promises large thermonuclear energy yields
