Low temperature specific heat of protactinium
Description
The specific heat of a single crystal of protactinium has been measured between 4.9 and 18 K. The coefficient of the electronic term in the specific heat γ is found to be 5.0 +- 0.5 mJ/mole-K2, agreeing with the trend in the neighboring elements thorium (γ = 4) and uranium (γ = 9 - 12). The question of whether protactinium is a type II superconductor remains unanswered
