An overview of Md-number calculations as a tool for phase stability prediction in Ni-base superalloys

  • 1. Erlangen-Nuernberg Univ., Erlangen (Germany). Lehrstuhl fuer Werkstoffwissenschaften 1

Description

The aim of the present work is to give a simpler overview, ranging from first quantum physical principles to some examples of the use of the Md-method in alloy development. The Md-number of an alloying element M (e.g. Cr, W, Mo, etc.) is simply the energy value of the lowest free orbital of this element M in an environment similar to that of the element M situated in the Ni-base alloy
