Separation and determination of neptunium by N-235 extraction chromatography

  • 1. Academia Sinica, Beijing, BJ (China). Inst. of Atomic Energy

Description

The separation of neptunium from uranium, plutonium, americium and europium is proposed by extraction chromatographic technique. N-235 is used as the stationary phase on polytetrafluoroethylene powder. Neptunium is fixed from 2.0 mol · l-1 HNO3 solution. After washing the column with 1.0 mol · l-1 HNO3 solution, neptunium is eluted with a nitric-oxalic acid mixture. The recoveries are 98.1 +- 2.6%
