The appointed radiation protection officer in foreign installations. Their professional training and position in comparison with other radiation protection officers

The assignment of external appointed radiation protection officers is discussed in comparison with other r.p. officers. A proposal is made to anchor this position in the new radiation protection ordinance. Shortcomings in training are pointed out and ways are shown for improvements. The appointment of so-called radiation protection deputies for the scope of paragraph 20 of the German r.p. ordinance is rejected because nothing is said there about the required competence. Instead, the strengthening of his position is claimed. One major task of the r.p. officer is the training of subordinates although he is not trained to do so himself. Examples are given how this deficiency may be overcome. (orig.)
