Description

Laparoscopic treatment of acute non-traumatic abdomen syndrome may be safely performed in the majority of cases. Results obtained cover the treatment of 155 patients through videolaroscopic approach, between February 1997 and March 2001.Twenty two patients were excluded because the laparoscopy performed was solely for the purpose of diagnosis. Seventy two patients were women and 61 men. Average age was 45 years old, the youngest being 7 and the oldest 86.In view of the fact that mobility is low, mortality is null and conversion index of 9 % is low compared with international literature, the authors concluded that video laparoscopy approach is the first elective treatment in the majority of acute abdominal disorders. The first step being exploratory laparoscopy, followed by video laparoscopy treatment of the corresponding pathology. This requires a well-trained surgical team, permanent availability of operating room and material use of laparoscopic material
