Description

The present status of calculations of quantum electrodynamical, nuclear, and interelectronic-interaction corrections to the binding energies in heavy few-electron ions is reviewed. The currently available theoretical results for the Lamb shift in H-, He-, and Li-like ions are compared with recent experimental data. A special attention is focused on testing quantum electrodynamics in a strong electric field
