Computer determination of anisotropic response of muon telescopes

Description

A technique has been developed to allow the rapid, automatic, determination of muon telescope asymptotic cones of acceptance by computer. The calculations, which culminate in computation of the response of telescopes of any nominated geometry to any given form of primary anisotropy, take into account deflection of particle trajectories in the geomagnetic field, and the zerith angle dependence of the muon coupling coefficients. Abstract (German)

Es wurde eine Technik entwickelt, die die schnelle automatische Bestimmung der asymptotischen Aufnahmekegel von Muonenteleskopen durch Computer gestattet. Die Berechnungen, welche Ablenkungen von Teilchen im geomagnetischen Feld beruecksichtigen, sowie die Abhaengigkeit der Muon-Kopplungskoeffizienten vom Zenitwinkel, erlauben die Bestimmung der 'Response' von Teleskopen beliebiger vorgegebener Geometrie bei beliebiger Form der Anisotropie der Primaerstrahlen.
