Comparable analysis on uranium mineralization in the platform cover rocks of Russia

Creators

Description

On the basis of compiling a set of prognostic metallogenic maps at a scale of 1:5000000, uranium mineralization in cover rocks of platforms and superimposed basins have been comprehensively investigated and some results have been achieved in Russia according to the data up to 1997. The patterns of distribution and formation of main uranium mineralization types with economic value in the region are described. The metallogenic zonation and classification of Pre-Mesozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic epochs of uranium ore formation are suggested. Traditional, non-traditional and new uranium mineralization types, especially those associated with interstratified and groundwater oxidation at local and regional scales are predicted. In the Asian part of Russia, the most promising areas for finding uranium mineralization suitable to ISL are the southern part of West Siberia and the superimposed basins in the areas of Trans-Baikal.
