Antiprotons in cosmic rays: calculation on the basis of the quark-gluon string model
Description
The increase in multiplicity with increase of the energy of a pp interaction leads to a rise of the fraction of secondary particles produced in passage of cosmic-ray protons through interstellar matter. On the basis of the contemporary model of high-energy hadron interactions the ratio of the intensities of the fluxes of antiprotons and protons R/sub p-bar//sub ///sub p/ is calculated. This ratio rises with energy in the region E/sub p-bar/>100 GeV. For a power-law exponent of the primary-proton spectrum γ = 2.0 the value of R/sub p-bar//sub ///sub p/ is close to the observed ratio. This permits the suggestion that a large fraction of antiprotons are produced near sources of cosmic-ray protons with this spectrum exponent
