Faraday effect in a semimagnetic Cd1-xFexTe semiconductor

Description
Effect of intracentral transitions on the behaviour of V(E) Verdet's constant dependence in Fe-bearing semimagnetic semiconductor is studied. 5G3(5D) -> 3G4(3H) intracentral transition is shown to manifest itself clearly in absorption low-temperature spectrum. At the same time due to similar probability of transitions for light components polarized along righ and left circles near the edge of fundamental absorption there is no contribution of intracentral transitions into Verdet's constant. 12 refs.; 3 figs
