High-resolution instant images in the brain

Description

In those parts of the body that do not move significantly over an interval of several seconds, instant or echo-planar imaging can be used to produce high-resolution images by combining two or more individual instant shots. The authors have used variations of the previously described MOSAIC method to create high-resolution, T2-weighted images of the brain in less than 10 seconds. They acquire two 128 x 128 single-shot images, each with a 64-msec acquisition period, on a 1.5-T imager. The two shots cover different but slightly overlapping, regions of k space, and are processed to produce a 128 x 256 image, with 1.5 x 1.5-mm pixels
