Description

Pyrochemical reprocessing generates spent salt consisting of LiCl-KCl eutectic salt and chloride of fission products (FP). For the decontamination of the spent salt, FP elements are removed from molten salt by using zeolite column system in which FP elements is adsorbed on zeolite. We carried out batch type adsorption test in order to take the basic data for estimation of process performance. We confirmed that over 10 equivalents of FP cation can be adsorbed per one unit cell of zeolite. This adsorption capacity is quite adequate for salt treatment process. (author)
