Experimental determination of material buckling in a fast reactor

  • 1. Boris Kidric Institute of nuclear sciences, Vinca, Belgrade (Yugoslavia)

Description

Material buckling was determined from the shape of neutron spectrum fundamental harmonic. Interaction between the core and the reflector in the fast reactor is significant causing intense spectral and harmonics effects even in the core. The method applied is based on synthesizing the fundamental neutron spectrum harmonics by measuring fission rate distribution using suitable detectors along main core directions. This paper analyzes linear correlation between experimental and calculated reaction rates. Computer code BUCKLING was written for this purpose and used for calculation od radial and axial buckling
