Numerical experiments on energetic particle scattering in pitch angle

Description

Computer experiments are performed on the pitch angle scattering of particles in a modulated sine-wave magnetic field, a field consisting of Gaussian fluctuations perpendicular to the mean field and a field where the perpendicular fluctuations are derived form spacecraft data. Results are compared with quasi-linear, adiabatic theory. (orig.)

Computerexperimente ueber die Streuung des Neigungswinkels von Teilchen werden fuer folgende Magnetfelder durchgefuehrt: ein sinusfoermig moduliertes Magnetfeld, ein Feld mit Gausschen Fluktuationen senkrecht zum mittleren Feld und ein Magnetfeld, bei dem die senkrechten Fluktuationen aus Satellitendaten genommen wurden. Die Ergebnisse werden mit der quasilinearen adiabatischen Theorie verglichen. (orig./WBU)
