Description

To increase the efficiency of detecting soft X radiaation of pulsed sources within the 3 to 12 keV energy range it is proposed to use multichannel X detectors. A design of such detector based on microchannel plates (MCP) made of glass with high lead content is described and a design of the analog detector on the basis of six single channel electron multipliers (CEM) of a spiral type is also considered. MCP are a set of channel multipliers arranged as a series of several millimetres thick plates. The results of the tests performed with the new detectors in a pulse electron beam with a current of 0.5 A and a pulse width of 1 μs are presented. The value of the critical output charge for the MCP detectors is two orders higher than that for the CEM detectors. The output current of MCP as a function of the electron beam energy is given. The results testify to the fact that the above instruments can be used to analyze plasma X radiation
