''In vitro'' method for biological control of antineoplastic drugs used at the Instituto Nacional do Cancer (RJ-Brazil)

Description

An ''in vitro'' system capable of evaluating, at biological level, the efficacy of antineoplasic drygs that independ of previous metabolization for their action is presented. The assay was based on inhibition of cellular proliferation (cultured cell line K562 and PHA-stimulated lymphocytes), measured using [3H] thymidine uptake into cellular DNA. (M.A.C.)

Abstract (Portuguese)

Apresenta-se um metodo capaz de verificar a eficacia, a nivel biologico, das drogas antineoplasicas, que nao necessitem de metabolismo previo para sua acao. Relata-se que o principio do ensaio e baseado na medida de inibicao da proliferacao celular da linhagem K562 e de celulas ativadas por fitohemaglutinina (PHA), usando-se como marcador a incorporacao no DNA de timidina tritiada.
