Renormalization in the QCD Hamiltonian method

  • 1. Bonn Univ. (Germany). Inst. fuer Theoretische Kernphysik

Description

The Hamiltonian method as alternative to lattice Monte Carlo QCD suffers from a number of complications. It is shown that the coefficients of Luescher's effective model space Hamiltonian can be obtained within a finite volume lattice regularization and in the continuum limit where the lattice spacing goes to zero (applying standard coupling constant renormalization). This method avoids a formal treatment of the (unregularized) Yang-Mills Hamiltonian as it is necessary within the framework of Luescher using dimensional regularization. (author) 11 refs
