Radiative capture of polarized muons minus on 16O and 40Ca nuclei

Description

The coefficient of asymmetry of the GITA(k) photon angular distribution (with respect to muon spin) and Psub(γ)(k) photon circular polarization have been calculated for the case of radiative capture of polarized muons on 16O and 40Ca. Nuclear states are treated in a microscopic model. Two particle-two hole configurations have also been included for 16O. The calculations were performed in the impulse approximation framework. The effects of nucleon-velocity-dependent terms in the effective Hamiltonian are studied quantitatively. The characteristics of the nuclear radiative muon capture are obtained by summing the contributions of individual partial transitions (disregarding the contributions of the weakly excited states) rather than by using the closure approximation. Studies carried out has shown that studied characteristics are weakly sensitive to the choice of nuclear wave functions. The contribution of high-speed members for the 40Ca nucleus as well as for 16O light nucleus is a negligible quantity (approximately 1%). GITA(k) and Psub(γ)(k) values depend weakly on a concrete nucleus choice. GITA(k) and Psub(γ)(k) depend strongly on the value of constants .1.. . of induced pseudoscalar interaction, iartc larly in the high-energy part of γ-quanta spectra. The obtained results for 40Ca are compared with available experimental data. A good agreement is observed only at energy of γ-quanta of 63.5-82 MeV
