Description
MRI was performed in a series of one hundred cases with clinically suspected brain diseases. Each patient was imaged with FLAIR and spin echo sequences. FLAIR images revealed pituitary stalk as high signal intensity to the brain parenchyma in 70 of 100 cases (70%). And nine of 11 cases under 10 years did not show as high signal intensity while 61 of 89 adult cases showed it as high signal intensity. These results suggested that the high signal of pituitary with FLAIR images may be closely related to the maturity of the pituitary stalk. (author)
