Description
Positron lifetime technique has been used to study the recovery processes in two electron-irradiated Al-Li alloys, having 1.7 and 9.9at%Li. According to the literature Li is in solid solution in the first alloy, while δ' precipitates (Al3Li) are present in the second one. Isochronal annealing measurements have been performed at 77K from 77 to 400K, and the spectra have been satisfactorily analysed with one component in the whole temperature range. From the results in the as-irradiated samples it is inferred that electrons originate vacancy-Li complexes with a very similar structure in both alloys. The isochronal annealing measurements suggest that the recovery takes place by Li diffusion in the dilute alloy, whereas several processes are involved in the recovery of the concentrated alloy
