Structural mechanism of the formation of copper(2)-based high-Tc superconductors
- 1. AN SSSR, Moscow (Russian Federation). Inst. Obshchej i Neorganicheskoj Khimii
Description
Comparative analysis of coordination surrounding and Cu-O bond lengths in high-Tc superconductor phases and other Cu(2) compounds was carried out. It is shown that asymmetry of the closest surrounding and external matrix optimizes the process of electron hole(h) condensation in conducting layers, being its necessary component. Short-range order formed in this way in Cu(2) polyhedron assigns long-range order and determines appearance of superstructural ordering of h in CuO2 layers, bringing about creation of conducting layers at macroscopic distances. The suggested mechanism of high-Tc superconductor formation can be used when developing new superconductors
