Verification of charge symmetry in φ-d and φ+d scattering at Tφ = 417 MeV

Description

The charge-asymmetry parameter A (Tphi 'θ*) of the differential cross sections for elastic π-d and π+d scattering at Tαpi = 417 MeV is measured in the π-meson channel of the PINP synchrocyclotron. The values of A(Tπ'θ*) measured for the scattering angles θ* = 106,122,137, and 154 degrees are -0.107 ± 0.046, 0.024 ± 0.035, 0.061 ± 0.029, and 0.062 ±0.0924, respectively. The experiments are carried out using a specially designed multichannel setup including hadron scintillation spectrometers and a liquid-deuterium target cooled by helium. Radiative corrections calculated according to the technique proposed by Borie are taken into account in the results. 14 refs. 6 figs., 3 tabs
